Triethylene glycol - is a flammable substance that is formed as a by‑product during the production of ethylene glycol. It is a viscous, odorless liquid with a slightly sweet taste. The substance is characterized by volatility, hygroscopicity, and high solubility in water. There are two grades of this chemical compound: grade A (98%) and grade B (90%).

Areas of application: The scope of triethylene glycol use is quite broad. It is used:

as a solvent in technical fluids and paint and varnish materials;
as a plasticizer in the production of vinyl and other polymer raw materials;
in disinfectant solutions;
as a desiccant for natural gas (due to its ability to absorb vapor), etc.

Storage conditions: Triethylene glycol is stored in a tightly sealed container made of chemically resistant materials in a dry, well‑ventilated place at a temperature from +5°C to +30°C, away from heat, fire, and oxidizing agents. It is important to avoid contact with moisture due to its hygroscopic nature.

Safety requirements: Triethylene glycol is low‑toxic, but inhalation of its vapors or ingestion in large doses can have a negative effect on the kidneys and the central nervous system. The substance should be handled in well‑ventilated areas, using protective equipment: gloves, goggles, and a respirator.

In case of contact with the skin or eyes, rinse with plenty of water. In case of poisoning, seek medical help. Avoid contact with open flames, as the substance is flammable.
