DIETHYLENE GLYCOL (DEG)

Diethylene glycol is a viscous liquid with a yellowish tint, a barely noticeable sweet taste, and no odor. It dissolves well in water and is highly hygroscopic. DEG does not freeze at low temperatures, but it is a highly flammable and toxic substance.

Areas of application: Diethylene glycol is widely used in various industries. It is used as a solvent, softener, and moisturizing agent, including for:

• The production of cooling, brake, and hydraulic fluids, heat transfer fluids (in a mixture with ethylene glycol);
• plasticization of adhesives, inks, and dyes;
• production of polyurethanes, acrylates, and esters;
• extraction of aromatic substances;
• gas drying;
• plasticization of PVC and other polymers;
• maintaining the required moisture content of tobacco and cork raw materials.

Storage conditions: Store in airtight containers made of aluminum, corrosion‑resistant, or aluminized steel. The product in barrels is stored in covered, unheated warehouse spaces. The barrels containing the product must be stored vertically. The height of the barrel stack must not exceed three tiers.

Safety requirements: Diethylene glycol is dangerous if it enters the body. It can cause acute poisoning and affect the kidneys and liver. The liquid belongs to hazard class 3.

Packaging: In barrels, in an IBC container.
